  • (2023-09-28) Bradley Chapman: This is a GAME CHANGER for reviewing AAMC material. I heard about this extension through the Jack Westin MCAT podcast and I am so thankful for all of you for creating this, along with your many other resources! 10/10
  • (2023-08-17) samarth chauhan: useful but way to many bugs. They released way before it was ready.
  • (2023-08-13) Wonton Guo: Answer explanations are good but please!!!!!!! Whenever I transfer from the AAMC portal to the extension in Qpacks and some other practice material my answer choices get all randomized and wrong. Please fix! Also, sometimes it takes forever to load this thing when reviewing FL'.s
  • (2023-08-03) Tim Sohn: Very useful since AAMC won't change the format back, but this thing is very glitchy, and since the Aug. 2 2023 update, it goes well beyond just being glitchy. I cannot click "done" very often, the passage will not change with the questions (ex. Stay on passage 1 as questions keep moving on), unable to view solutions on many questions using the App. I used this yesterday before the update, and as of the update today it is significantly more glitchy and almost unusable now.
  • (2023-08-03) Black Spartacus Studios: It's a really good extension. The downside is that it's very glitchy, it when you doing reviews at a certain point in the passages the explanations stop showing and you'll have to go to reddit for better explanations.
  • (2023-08-02) Ryan: Floods the entire page with every answer for every question. No thanks
  • (2023-05-31) Kimberly Tavares: The highlight and strikethrough doesn't work. Makes it very difficult to focus on important information in the passage and eliminate wrong answers. Please fix this.Other than this, its a great extension.
  • (2023-04-11) Dalton Nonweiler: It definitely adds value by elaborating on the AAMC answers. But, it's pretty buggy and doesn't have answers for FL5. Most annoyingly, it wipes out any highlighting you did on the exam when you go to review it with answers. Good idea, a lot of room for improvement.
  • (2023-03-26) Mark Youssef: As others have mentioned, this would be amazing if it works right. I found that on AAMC material, it can reset your work (happens quite a bit), or will say a correct answer chosen is incorrect (BUT I THINK THIS IS FIXED IN A RECENT UPDATE), or will skip questions (this is new to me).
  • (2023-01-10) Asim Ibrahim: Great idea, not so great execution. The explanations are a great addition but it's so buggy that sometimes it's impossible to use. Extremely frustrating!!
  • (2022-12-21) Kimmy Phan: I love seeing the AAMC questions in MCAT format, however whenever I use it, it tells me all my answers are incorrect, regardless of whether I get them correct or incorrect. Once I exit out of the extension, it will then update on the AAMC website that I got the question right or wrong. It throws me off a lot.Other than that, this is a great extension to have while studying for the MCAT!
  • (2022-05-10) Allan: Testing this Friday but wanted to leave a review before I forget. I'm incredibly grateful for this extension and why the AAMC doesn't format their practice material to simulate their ACTUAL exam is beyond me.Like another reviewer mentioned, if I'm on question #1 and want to go to question #50, I have to click through the questions one by one. This is NOT an issue for FLs (what counts), so I'd love for that to be addressed.Thank you JW and team, your resources (particularly daily CARS) have provided a ton of value.Signing off,-DryBones
  • (2022-04-16) Ali: NEEDS UPDATE ASAP! WAS WORKING FINE (actually great)––now it does not sync questions solved when back to AAMC (it only shows the last question done).
  • (2022-01-07) brother zakir: way too many bugs. barely works half the time
  • (2021-11-17) Chris Cernac: The idea is great and it is nice to be able to review the AAMC material in the actual MCAT format, but the execution leaves a lot to be desired. There are a fair number of spelling mistakes and sometimes the explanations are overcomplicated even though they are better than the AAMCs.The plugin is also super buggy at times. Sometimes it won't load, other times the answer choices are recorded incorrectly, the navigation is useless since you have to click through every question before they show up in the, I have also had some weird issue where it will just randomly scroll through questions until it hits the end.
  • (2021-10-05) Christian Near: I really wish I knew about this extension earlier, but I am glad I know about it now!
  • (2021-08-28) Farida Burenbeiya: Invaluable resource! My brain hurts trying to decipher some of AAMC's explanations and this is a great supplement to understanding the questions more. I also like that the explanations are simplified as if a real, "normal" human being/friend is talking to me, unlike AAMC and the MCAT's verbiage. Thankfully, I have not found any issues yet and it seems to work fine for me. I usually have the AAMC version and then the JW version pulled up at the same time while reviewing. I'm glad this is available for FREE and I really appreciate Jack Westin, Phil, the company for all the help they've given with this MCAT Beast! THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH!!!
  • (2021-08-28) Sawyer P: This extension is an essential companion to AAMC review material! I personally find the official explanations for the AAMC section bank and full lengths to be too brief and confusing. This extension supplements the material by adding well explained and thorough reasoning behind each question and why each answer was correct or incorrect. I recommend this to everyone studying for the MCAT. Big thanks to Jack Westin!
  • (2021-08-25) Pamela E: Overall the extension provides great explanations to some otherwise lacking AAMC answer explanations.I also appreciate the reformatting to mimic what the test day format will be for these questions. However, please take a closer look at some of the integration. I got tripped up a few B/B section bank questions because it was marked as incorrect in the JW extension meanwhile my answer choice was correct. Actually on a few I've noticed that no selection option will result in it appearing as a correct answer choice.
  • (2021-08-24) Khadija M.: This helped me so much! Definitely a must have for all people taking the MCAT. :D
  • (2021-08-20) Ali Naeij: I really find this useful. The AAMC explanations are worthless most of the time. They mostly say "the answer is A because I said so" but this explains the reasoning behind each option and why each one is wrong/correct
  • (2021-08-19) Ellie Whitney: This is the single best tool out there for improving your MCAT score; everyone emphasizes how important it is to thoroughly review practice AAMC exams, and this allows for a much better understanding of each question!! So worth it!!
  • (2021-08-18) Luis Cavazos: amazing explanations
  • (2021-08-18) Felix Contreras-Castro: Few errors here and there, but overall amazing free tool to help with review. Safes so much time before I had to google every question I got wrong and why, Jacks APP helps reduce the time on this. Oh, and its free so thank you for this!
  • (2021-08-18) Ashenafi Zekarias: This extension has been very helpful during my study journey. I really recommend using this extension when reviewing AAMC study material.
  • (2021-08-18) Maliha Latif: This is a very helpful tool! Although it does glitch sometimes; it is really useful when reviewing your answers. The AAMC explanations are not thorough enough but this extension provides with explanations for every answer choice and even tips and content information. So glad I found out about this when I did!
  • (2021-08-12) kriyonce md: literally one of the best things to happen to the premed/mcat community! randomly saw this recommended on reddit. the section bank explanations are gold and i only had to go to reddit for some questions which REALLY decreased the time i spent looking for answer explanations on reddit. really great diagrams as well!. they also have explanations for the full lengths and this really saves a lot of time. i am so glad i could do the CARS qpacks and diagnostic tool with AAMC format which AAMC doesnt even provide! also thank you for adding the timer. for those if you who cant get it to work...click on the extension...if it doesnt show up reload your page twice! thank you again!
  • (2021-08-11) Emily Kong: Only downside is that you physically have to "click-through" all of the questions before you can view it in the 'Navigation' page. Not a big deal but would definitely be helpful when going back to review passage questions/discretes. Regardless, this extension is essential to mimicking the test center conditions and I find myself missing the option when I have to view the Official MCAT Prep Hub on other apple products where the chrome extension is unavailable (ie., safari on iphone, ipad). Would recommend to anyone (and everyone) prepping for the MCAT. Thank you Jack Westin Team for your continued efforts for all the struggling pre-meds out there!
  • (2021-08-11) Austin Solak: While this plug-in is quite good, I have noticed many spelling mistakes all throughout answer explanations. As well there are a few cases where the answer they have given did not match to that provided by AAMC which led to some confusion. Overall it is good but I believe the answer choices need another round of review.
  • (2021-08-11) Oumar El-Aina: Exceptional explanations, however disappointed in the fact that sometimes diagrams in the passage will not be shown with the JW interface. Highly difficult when trying to reimmerse myself in content/questions I have to review.
  • (2021-07-26) Joseph: For those wondering, they have fixed the issue with only A answers. Extension works great!
  • (2021-07-17) Anamaria Ancheta: I was really enjoying the extension but when reviewing the P/S Section of AAMC Full Length 2 i noticed the explanations were a question after for each one (i.e = #25's explanations were on #26). Is there already and answer that can fix this?
  • (2021-04-29) Toasting with Taylor: This interface is amazing and I am so thankful since AAMC explanations are obviously not as detailed. Thank you SO much for this Jack! Also, I am not experiencing any issues with the plug in itself. It works perfectly, records my score in AAMC, and is amazing. So helpful! Love it.
  • (2021-03-08) Ms Ag: Help please. I can't see the answer choices and it is not letting me proceed to the next question. Thanks
  • (2020-07-24) Asia Wirkijowski: Really enjoy this interface so far, it works really well for a plugin and I was totally impressed with how seamless it incorporates itself. I already am acustomed to JackWestin's free Question of the Day passages, so I am familiar with the layout JackWestin uses to stimualte the MCAT. My only complaint is I wish it saved your progress time correctly when you're done, but its really a minor inconvience for getting test like stimulation. I do wish it ran a little bit smoother on my computer too but realy great plug in overall. I love seeing that JackWestin is constantly working on updates to fix bugs and offer a more realistic MCAT test like experience with practice questions.
  • (2020-06-24) Luke: it puts in the wrong answer on AAMC so i can't keep track of my progress. When clicking on the solution button it also doesn't work more than half the time. However, the concept and structure of it is amazing, but it needs a lot more work, I will be removing it until JW can fix these issues.
  • (2020-04-09) Obaid Khan: you can see the right answer because of the blue solution icon moving down when the right answer is clicked out of the 4. needs to be fixed because i am using a piece of black tape to hide it lol. thanks jw. pce
  • (2020-01-20) Ank A: Overall, would not recommend using it until they fix the serious problems.Pros:- looks like actual MCAT interfaceCons:- saves all of your answers as A, regardless of what you entered- sets the time that you spent on each question as 1 second, regardless of how long you actually attempted the question- doesn't show the answer explanation- doesn't let you move on to the next question. I reset all my questions as the extension asked, but then when I use the add-on, it doesn't let me progress to the next question.
  • (2020-01-07) MJ Lloreda-Maier: I have been trying to visualize all the material I bought from the AAMC in this format, and it wasn't possible, until I found this extension. The idea is incredible! However, I am bummed that all my answers keep appearing as A, so I cannot get a feel for a realistic progress in the AAMC Hub dashboard. I keep resetting my products and it still doesn't work.Like I said, great resource, but it still needs some work as far as syncing with the actual AAMC dashboard. In the meantime, I will have to use the usual AAMC interface while I review content, and hopefully a new update for this extension will be released soon, for when I start working on my timing.
  • (2019-12-08) Chad Vigil: Doens't save progress and only answers A, it's better to just deal with AAMC's cheap format than deal with this
  • (2019-12-05) Swag: I used the "reset all questions" for the pack (CARS) that I was using and it still skipped my questions. When I finished practice, I clicked results and "save", but when I returned to the AAMC layout, it recorded all answers as 'A'. I tried resetting again for another question pack and with the intention of not using the "save" feature and just seeing how it worked, but while I was reading the passage and tried to highlight, the app froze and I was unable to continue on the page.Great concept, but does not currently work well.
  • (2019-11-04) Armen Khanbabaei: thank u
  • (2019-08-19) Jeremy Chan: Love this extension, but when I submitted my answers, it still chose all the answers as 'A'.
  • (2019-08-16) Portia Okafor: Seems like a great app, but whenever I hit the JW symbol after beginning my practice problems. the loading spinning circle is all I see.
  • (2019-08-15) Stuti Shah: can't get past the loading screen...(yes, my browser and everything is updated)
  • (2019-08-09) Alexandra Carla Bobica: I used the extension yesterday and it worked great! However today when I clicked on the extension, it never loads. Please fix!
  • (2019-08-09) Sonia Patel: Every time I click on the extension through Chrome on the practice page, it never loads or opens up the interface! Any fixes to this?
  • (2019-08-08) Kaitie Eipel: OMG this is exactly what I've been waiting for! I hated that AAMC didn't set up their practice packets with an interface like the actual MCAT. This is HUGE!! Thank you, Jack! :)
  • (2019-08-08) Steph Anne: This is absolutely amazing, you MUST use it!! Thank you Jack!!!
  • (2019-08-07) Leslie Llewellyn: Brenan's review is accurate. Would love if it didn't preselect the answer to be A. and it didnt move forward if you leave the interface. All in all AMAZING move in the right direction!!!!

FAQs

How good are Jack Westin passages? ›

The passages and questions provided are well-written and challenging. Practicing with them can help test-takers develop the critical thinking and analytical skills needed to succeed on the exam.

Is the real MCAT harder than the AAMC sample? ›

There is a lot of debate on this topic and it largely depends on who you ask. Some students find the AAMC practice exams to be more difficult than the actual MCAT, while others find them to be a good predictor of what they will see on the test day.

Is AAMC material enough? ›

Make Sure You Are Using the Best Practice Tests

Always make the AAMC's practice material a priority. They are the creators of the test, after all. Any AAMC MCAT practice exam will represent the real deal's closest representation. Using the AAMC material for practice is recommended by every top scorer we've come across.

Are the AAMC question packs worth it? ›

The science Question Packs are good material, but because they're not as representative of the new test, they're not essential. If you were running out of time before your test and had to skip one piece of AAMC material, I'd recommend that you skip the science Question Packs.

Is UWorld MCAT harder than AAMC? ›

Because UWorld questions are significantly more difficult than the AAMC, you will likely score much worse on them. I've often seen differences of 10-20% among my students. So take your UWorld scores with a grain of salt. I consider any score above 75% on UWorld to be very good.

Did AAMC pay Khan Academy? ›

Visit aamc.org/mcatprep to find more free resources and low-cost products to help you prepare for the MCAT exam. The Khan Academy MCAT Collection was created by Khan Academy with support and funding from the AAMC and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.

What is the hardest AAMC practice test? ›

FL5 is easily the hardest and most representative of the current MCAT given it was a 2022 test. The other FLs are from 2019 and before which is still good practice but for me personally, they don't compare to what the MCAT is currently.

Do people score higher on real MCAT than practice? ›

As they are generally based on content, the questions asked on the exam might be more detail-oriented and lower-yield, as they do not test reasoning or critical thinking as the official exam will. The majority of students report receiving higher scores on official AAMC practice MCAT material.

What is the hardest section of the MCAT to improve? ›

Overall, CARS might be the most difficult section of the MCAT to improve. In science, students need an average of 50 hours of study time to increase their score by one point. For CARS, target improving points like 75-100 hours of learning.

What is a 528 MCAT score? ›

Each section of the MCAT is scored from 118 to 132. The score you can get from these four sections is something between 472 to 528. If you score a 132 in all four areas, you will achieve a 528—the perfect score.

How many MCAT full lengths should I take? ›

How many practice tests before MCAT are necessary? In general, I would suggest taking 7-10 full-length practice exams depending on your study duration and personal progression. I personally studied over 5 months and went through 13 full-length practice exams throughout this period.

Is Altius harder than AAMC? ›

Altius Exams

From my experience, I would say that 6-10 were more representative and 1-5 more challenging but still very useful. Altius, as with Blueprint, is harder than the AAMC practice exams, but I personally found Altius to be far more helpful than Blueprint in preparing me for the AAMC material.

Why can't I break 500 MCAT? ›

The first thing we'll say is that scoring below 500 according to most top scorers, is a result of being behind in content. If you've been studying content, but not understanding the material deeply enough, then you likely need to switch up the methods you're using to learn the material.

Are AAMC practice tests predictive? ›

Rather, they provide a valuable opportunity to work with denser, more difficult material. However, the truest predictor of your scores lies in the AAMC practice tests.

Should I retake AAMC practice tests? ›

So it's not recommended to take your AAMC practice tests multiple times within a four-month window. You want your practice test scores to accurately assess your skill level, not just float upward due to the practice effect.

Are Jack Westin daily passages free? ›

All of our practice passages and questions are free for the public to use.

How does Jack Westin read a CARS passage? ›

Westin's note-taking method involves reading through the passage once and identifying the main idea and supporting arguments. He then suggests summarizing each paragraph in a few words or phrases, focusing on the author's argument and evidence.
