Obituary Preview: Gerald Hubert Nilges, 74, of Koeltztown, passed away Monday, July 4, 2022, at his residence surrounded by his family.

He was born May 15, 1948, in Jefferson City, the son of Frank and Anna (Holterman) Nilges.

He was united in marriage on August 20, 1966, in Jefferson City to Mary Dorine Heimericks who survives at the home.

Gerald worked on the family farm raising livestock and worked at the Interstate Regional Stock Yards and Miller County Regional Stockyards. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown and a board member of the Argyle/Koeltztown Volunteer Fire Department. Gerald enjoyed crappie fishing, prairie dog hunting, and was proud to have traveled with his wife Mary to all 50 states.

Survivors include his wife of 55 years, Mary Nilges, Koeltztown; four children, David (Simone) Nilges, Spanaway, WA; Michael (Cara Sankey) Nilges, Koeltztown; Joyce (Doug) Branson, Koeltztown; Donald (Veronica) Nilges, Koeltztown; 12 grandchildren, Mindy (Rodney) Bax, Katie (Austin) Elder, Jeremy (Katie) Nilges, Gavin Nilges, Kaleb Nilges, Kody (Taylor Dudenhoeffer) Nilges, Kristopher (Courtney) Nilges, Amanda Branson, Jacob (Shelby Wulff) Branson, Thad (Megan Becker) Nilges, Gabriel Nilges, Carly Nilges, and a bonus granddaughter, Sarah (Dakota) Klingele; and 12 great-grandchildren, Paige Bax, Christina Bax, Rachel Bax, Sage Nilges, Haidyn Elder, Harper Elder, Hudson Nilges, Alexander Nilges, Jaxon Nilges, Wyatt Nilges, Landon Nilges, Larson Klingele, and baby boy Branson due later this year.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and two grandsons, Sean Nilges and Cole Nilges.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Thursday, July 7, 2022, at Trimble Funeral Homes in Westphalia with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. Additional visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Friday at the church.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown with the Rev. Basil Tigga officiating.

Obituary Preview: Ethel Huhn, 85 of Westphalia passed away on Wednesday, May 4, 2022 at Capitol Region Medical Center.

She was born September 6, 1936 in Folk to the late Ben and Hilda (Kaiser) Huhn. Ethel grew up on the family farm and was the first girl in her family to graduate from Fatima High School in 1954. Ethel moved to Kansas City where she was head of the Accounting Department at Reeves-Wiedeman Company. She retired in 1997 and in 2004 decided to move back to Westphalia to be closer to family.

Faith and family meant everything to Ethel. Every day at 6:30 a.m., she prayed the Rosary for family, friends and all who needed prayers. She loved her family with all her heart and would do anything for them. Ethel will be remembered for her cooking of special family recipes as well as teaching her grandnieces and nephews how to cook and bake. She was the consummate host when family and friends came to visit, always preparing special treats and planning special destinations to visit. She enjoyed shopping, going to rummage sales, traveling, feeding and watching the birds and cheering on the Chiefs, Royals and Cardinals.

Ethel was a fiercely independent woman who was proud of her achievements and the family she is a part of. She will be sadly missed.

Ethel is survived by her siblings, Marilyn Loethen of Hallsville, Bernice Bexten of Westphalia, Edward Huhn of Westphalia, four sisters-in-law, Claire Huhn of Folk, Alice Huhn of Centertown, Bernice Huhn of Folk, Dorothy Huhn of Westphalia and many nieces and nephews and their families. She was preceded in death by her parents, six brothers, James, Joe, Jerome, Clarence, Vincent and infant brother, Robert, three sisters, Hermina Fitzpatrick, Evelyn Stratman and Elaine Huhn and brothers-in-law, Tom Fitzpatrick, Cellus Stratman, Albert Bexten and James Loethen. Visitation will be Tuesday, May 10, 2022 from 4:30 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Dulle-Trimble Funeral Home, Westphalia with the Rosary being prayed at 4:00 p.m. The Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m., Wednesday at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, Folk with Rev. Anthony Viviano officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The service will be live streamed for those who wish to watch from home. Obituary Preview: Jerome Casper Reinkemeyer, 92, of Argyle, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 21, 2022, at his home with family at his side.

He was born in Argyle, MO on October 9, 1929, the son of the late Lawrence and Anna (Steinman) Reinkemeyer.

He was united in marriage on October 25, 1958, in St. Martins, Missouri to Margaret Augusta (Distler) Reinkemeyer who preceded him in death on September 11, 2018.

Jerome completed 8th grade to the Argyle School. From 1952-1954, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War.

He was a farmer taking over the family farm from his father and worked various places in mechanical and small engines work. For several years he was the owner and operator of Stoney Point Small Engines. Through this business he made many friends and was proud of his ability to provide this service to the community. Many times, you could find him taking care of a customer late in the evening or even on a Sunday to get them back up and running.

Jerome loved to fish and spent many Sunday afternoons fishing in the Maries River below the house. He enjoyed playing pitch and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

He was a member of the St Aloysius Church and the Argyle Knights of Columbus.

He was born December 3, 1933, in Westphalia to Otto and Lucy (Herx) Rehagen.

He was a 1951 graduate of Westphalia High School.

Walter served in the United States Army from 1956-1958.

He was united in marriage on June 18, 1960, in Folk, Missouri to Theresa Woehr who survives at the home.

Walter was a life-long farmer. He also helped to start the Rehagen Bros. Trucking company with his sons.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, the Knights of Columbus, and the Lions Club. He served on the MFA State Board for several years and was a member of the state dairy farmers association.

Walter enjoyed fishing, hunting, woodworking, gardening, watching the St. Louis Cardinals and Fatima High School sports.

Survivors include his wife, Theresa Rehagen, Westphalia; five children, Mike (Brenda) Rehagen, Westphalia; Jan (Richard) Heckemeyer, St. Thomas; Ron (Donna) Rehagen, Westphalia; Sharon (Jim) Breese, Westphalia; Judy (Charles) Williams, Westphalia; 18 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and four siblings, Mary Frank, Jefferson City; Evelyn Schulte, Argyle; Helen Sanning, Taos; and Fred (Margaret) Rehagen, Westphalia.

She was born March 10, 1932, in Westphalia, the daughter of the late Cornelius and Margaret (Stumpe) Westerman.

Anna Mae was a 1950 graduate of St. Joseph High School in Westphalia.

She was united in marriage on May 20, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia to Elmer Edward Holterman who preceded her in death on August 30, 1991.

Anna Mae worked for the State Capitol and later Employment Security before staying home to raise her children. She later worked as a cook for St. Joseph Catholic School for over 29 years.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, St. Ann’s Sodality, and the Westphalia Senior Citizens Group. She loved to cook, travel, play bingo, watch shows in Branson, go to the Casino, and spending time with her family.

Rhonda was a graduate of Fatima High School.

She worked for over twenty years for St. Mary’s Hospital at the switchboard and registration and in earlier years, Rhonda spent twenty years working for the State of Missouri Department of Revenue selling license plates.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church.

She enjoyed sewing and color books. Her favorite times were with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Tom; her mother, Lillian Cassmeyer, Folk; four sons, Michael (Angela) Hagenhoff, Chamois; Matthew Hagenhoff, Folk; Mark Hagenhoff, Folk; and Morgan Hagenhoff, Folk; two grandchildren, Macy Hagenhoff and Ronald Hagenhoff; two sisters, Cheryl (Scott) Meyer, Cameron; and Peggy Cassmeyer, Jefferson City; and eight brothers and sisters-in-law from Tom’s family.

Obituary Preview: Franklin DeLano “FD” Baumho*r, 80, of Westphalia, passed away Tuesday, January 25, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center.

He was born January 13, 1942, in Folk on the family farm, to Anton S. and Martha E. (Heckman) Baumho*r.

FD served his country in the United States Army in 1964-1965 at Fort Story and Fort Eustis, in Virginia, and Okinawa, Japan, working in transportation, unloading the cargo ships.

He was married on April 8, 1967, in Jefferson City to Patsy Lee Reed Feltrop, who preceded him in death on August 25, 2019.

In his younger years, FD worked for Leroy Woehr at his sawmill and International Shoe Company. He became an expert plasterer for Pat Castrop Plastering & Drywall where he worked for forty-five years. During his career, he also loved working on his family farm.

He was a member of St. Anthony of Padua.

FD was an amazing gardener raising a bountiful garden and beautiful flowers. He loved to hunt, fish, mushroom hunt, and watch St. Louis Cardinals baseball. He and his wife were avid card sharks and played cards together daily. His most precious time was on his family farm, cutting cedars and raising livestock.

Survivors include his children, Carla (Troy) Flickinger, Taos; Darren (Christy) Feltrop, Taos; Donnie (Brenda) Baumho*r, Linn; and Greg (Nichole) Baumho*r, Loose Creek; five grandchildren, Tyler (Dakota) Baumho*r, Taylor Baumho*r, Levi (Breann) Feltrop, Lily Feltrop, and Chelsea Hall; two great-grandchildren, Liam Baumho*r and Harper Baumho*r; a sister, Patsy Baumho*r, Folk; and a brother, Roger Baumho*r, Holts Summit.

She was born February 10, 1946, in Jefferson City, the daughter of Wilfred F. and Esther Ann (Kliethermes) Luebbert.

Rita attended St. Joseph Catholic School and was a 1964 graduate of Fatima High School.

She was united in marriage on October 17, 1964, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia to Elmer Bax who survives at the home.

Rita worked at International Shoe Company until 1970. She then spent the next 22 years providing child home care for her children, grandchildren, and other children in the area. Rita also worked for Scholastic for 18 years until her retirement.

She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia. She enjoyed catering events at the Westphalia Lions Club, walking, fishing, playing cards, family gatherings and attending her grandchildren’s sporting events.

Obituary Preview: Mary Lou Heckman, 98, of Westphalia, passed away Monday, January 10, 2022, at Westphalia Hills surrounded by her family.

She was born December 2, 1923, in Westphalia, Missouri, the daughter of Henry A. and Gertrude (Castrop) Luebbert.

She was married on February 27, 1946, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia to John Peter Heckman, who preceded her in death November 9, 2015. They were married 69 years.

Before her marriage, Mary Lou worked three years at the Oberman Manufacturing Company in Jefferson City during World War II when they made Army and Navy uniforms. Once married, she was a homemaker raising their five children.

She was a member of St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Ladies Sewing Circle.

Mary Lou loved to quilt and enjoyed making quilts for each of her eighteen grandchildren and many baby quilts for the great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed baking for her family, traveling with her husband, working in her flower beds, and her beloved dog Mindy who was always by her side.

Survivors include five children, Allan (Janice) Heckman, Folk; Linda Kay Schulte, Jefferson City; Leon (Jane) Heckman, Folk; Randy (Darla) Heckman, Folk; and Geralyn (Kenneth) Luebbert, Jefferson City; 18 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren including one born on the day she died, Jax; and three 3 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a son-in-law, Richard Schulte; two great-grandchildren, Kaitlyn Zimmer, and Cohen Isenberg; and two brothers, Wilfred (Esther) Luebbert and Leonard Luebbert.

Obituary Preview: Curt Lyle Sherman, 68, of Vichy, Missouri, passed away Saturday, January 1, 2022, at Capital Region Medical Center after battling Interstitial Lung disease for 11 years.

He was born September 23, 1953, in Jefferson City, the son of William and Mareta (Tiede) Sherman.

Curt served his country in the United States Marine Corps from 1970 till his honorable discharge in 1971.

He was married in 1988 to his lifelong love, Sandy Pringer in Las Vegas, NV. Out of this marriage they had one son, Jordan Lyle Sherman and one grandson, Lyle Eugene Sherman.

Curt was employed with Union Pacific Railroad and later in 1980 started working for the Sheet Metal Local #36. He worked sheet metal for 30 plus years before retiring.

Curt was a true cowboy who loved his horses on the farm. He trained and showed horses in Halter, Western Pleasure, and Cutting. He had a great eye for a good horse. He enjoyed showing horses, traveling across the States, and seeing his cowboy friends.

He was a member of the American Paint Horse Association, American Cutting Horse Association, and the American Quarter Horse Association.

Curt loved spending time with his family, especially his six-year-old grandson Lyle and son Jordan.

She was born October 17, 1941, in Freeburg, the daughter of the late Henry and Gertrude (Richter) Struemph.

Cecilia was a 1959 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia.

She was married September 26, 1964, in Freeburg to Robert Joseph “Bob” Becker who preceded her in death on January 29, 2001. She was united in marriage on September 30, 2006, in Freeburg to Donald Schmitz who survives at the home.

Cecilia worked for over 30 years for the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education as a Data Entry Clerk.

She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg and the American Legion Auxiliary. Cecilia enjoyed social events including dancing and hosting parties. Her greatest love was her family especially her grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: James Henry Huhn, age 86, of Folk, Missouri, passed away peacefully on Monday, September 20th at his home surrounded by his loving family. James was born on May 17, 1935, in Folk, Missouri, the son of Ben and Hilda (Kaiser) Huhn. He was united in marriage to Claire Ann (Strope) on May 2, 1964 in St Thomas at St. Thomas the Apostle Church.

James attended St. Anthony of Padua of Folk school until the eighth grade. He joined the U.S. Army as a private for a short time until he was honorably discharged to take care of the family farm.

James was employed at Netwig lumber yard. Then he worked with a neighbor cutting railroad ties for several years. He also was employed as a truck driver with his brothers at Huhn Bros. Trucking until he left to farm with his brother Edward. He was a lifetime farmer where he owned dairy cattle for 39 years and raised beef, chickens, hogs, and crops. He was an active member of St. Anthony of Padua Church.

James thoroughly enjoyed spending time with his family, his dogs and being on the farm. He was a baseball coach for his sons’ baseball team for multiple years and bowled. He would take his grandchildren on four-wheeler rides to the creek and sled rides in the snow during the winter. James loved to play ball in the backyard with his children and grandchildren at family gatherings. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s many sporting events. James loved to fish and hunt as well as a great game of cards and Bingo.

His survivors include his wife, Claire Huhn of the home, five children, Mark (Theresa) Huhn of Folk, Keith (Sarah) Huhn of Folk, Stephanie (Steve) Laux of Koeltztown, Michelle (Kevin) Gabelsberger of Frankenstein and Kristen (Darin) Holtmeyer of St. Elizabeth and fifteen grandchildren: Katelyn & Cody Huhn, Raegan & Madelyn Huhn, Morgan, Lucas, Nolan, & Logan Laux, Megan, Michael, and Maria Gabelsberger, Levi, Austin, Jacob, and Tegan Holtmeyer, three sisters, Marilyn Loethen of Hallsville, Ethel Huhn of Westphalia, Bernice Bexten of Westphalia, two brothers, Joe (Alice) Huhn of Centertown and Edward Huhn of Westphalia and sisters-in-law, Bernice Huhn of Folk and Dorothy Huhn of Westphalia.

Debra was involved with the American Business Women’s Association, enjoyed playing cards, games, and bingo; going to rummage sales, auctions, and varage sales.

Alfred, one of 15 children, was born August 18, 1928, in Argyle, Mo., to Frank and Katherine (Hoeller) Wieberg.

He was united in marriage on April 23, 1949, in Westphalia, Missouri, to Mildred Temmen. She preceded him in death on April 23, 2016, the date of their 67th Wedding Anniversary.

Alfred worked for many years at Tweedies Shoe Factory, McGraw Edison (later named Shopsmith), in Jefferson City, Missouri.

Survivors include six children, Tom (Clara) Wieberg, Taos; Dan (Julie) Wieberg, Jefferson City; Randy Wieberg, Arlene (Sam) Samson, Darlene (Jim) Massman, and Sue (Leon) Lauberth, Westphalia; nineteen grandchildren; forty-nine great-grandchildren; one sister, Maria Cox, Newton, Iowa; sister-in-laws, Sarah Ann Wieberg, Springfield, IL; Alice Markway, Westphalia; Margie Temmen and Theresa Temmen, Folk; brother-in-law, Bill Temmen, Westphalia; one daughter-in-law, Sue Wieberg, Westphalia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Obituary Preview: Deanna Lynn “Dee” Huber, 46 of Westphalia, began her heavenly journey Saturday, August 14, 2021 after a courageous four year battle with cancer.

She was born September 19, 1974, at Jefferson City, a daughter of Lawrence “Larry” and Linda (Kampeter) Reichel.

Dee was united in marriage on October 14, 2000 at St. Aloysius Catholic Church in Argyle to Kevin Ray Huber.

She was a 1993 graduate of Fatima High School in Westphalia. After graduating, she worked at Gerbes in the floral department. It was where she met her future husband. In May 2001, she began her career at Quaker Windows and Doors where she has been a loyal employee for the last twenty years, working even in her final days.

Dee was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia. It was her strong faith that carried her through her wearying fight with determination, grace, and dignity.

Dee’s kind and generous nature was shared through her many hobbies and talents. She was not only known for her stunning floral arrangements, but she was also an amazing artist and graphic designer. Dee was often commissioned for her unique murals, Christmas yard cards, wedding backdrops, signs, and an array of craft items. She dabbled in carpentry and enjoyed repurposing anything she could add her creative touch to. Embroidery, piano, lottery tickets, baking, and collecting Precious Moments figurines were some of her other hobbies.

Dee was an avid sports fan and was often found at the ballpark or gym attending her nieces and nephews sporting events. She had fond memories of her Tuesday night bowling with the ladies. She enjoyed the outdoors and took pleasure in the peacefulness of gardening, fishing, and kayaking. She cherished Sunday afternoons with family and the moments spent sitting on her brother-in-law’s porch taking in his shared “wisdom.” Dee also had a playful side. Her coworkers and godsons were often the recipients of her creative pranks. Dee’s pride and joy were her nieces and nephews. Her love for them was nothing less than that of a mother’s. We celebrate her life and will treasure the many memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.

Dee will be deeply missed by all who knew her especially her loving and devoted husband of almost 21 years, Kevin Huber, Westphalia; her mother, Linda Reichel of Argyle; brothers, Scott Reichel (Jackie) and Travis Reichel (Chrissy), both of Argyle; sister, Trisha Weber (Josh) of Argyle; her mother-in-law, Lori Huber of Westphalia; brothers-in-law, Kurtis Huber (Marcie), Keith Huber and Kristopher Huber (Tammy), all of Westphalia; 14 nieces and nephews, Olivia, Alex and Alyssa Reichel; Nathan, Brandon and Samuel Reichel; Zachary and Anabel Weber; Kaylie (Scotty Randolph), Chase, Garret (Ashleigh), and Trenton Huber; Olivia Vieth and Kolby Huber; Jordan Saxe, Katelyn and Taylor Scheulen; and godson, Ryan Bock.

Joseph worked for Triple K Foundation Service, Gold Cup Bakery, Stegman Meat Service, and Westinghouse-ABB retiring after 22 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia, Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2693, American Legion Post 5, and served with the Special Road District in Westphalia.

Survivors include four children, Larry (Kim) Kever, Bonnots Mill; Barb (Richard) Nilges, Westphalia; Debbie (Larry) Redel, Rich Fountain; Geri (Gary) DeAngelis, Owensville; 9 grandchildren; and 27 great-grandchildren.

She was a 1948 graduate of Our Lady of Help High School in Frankenstein, Missouri.

She was employed with the Missouri State Division of Employment Security as a clerk typist III for forty-five years, retiring in 1994.

Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and St. Ann’s Sewing Circle. Later, when she moved to Jefferson City, she became a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

An accomplished seamstress, Mary made clothing for her many nieces, and enjoyed Search and Find books. She loved to crochet and once she moved to Oak Tree Villas, she was happy to teach many of the ladies.

Survivors include one sister, Caroline Starke, Frankenstein; nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews, great-great nieces and nephews; and great-great-great nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by an infant brother, Jonathon Altheuser; brothers, Edward Altheuser, Bernard (Virginia) Altheuser and Albert Altheuser; sisters, Clara Altheuser, Agnes Altheuser, and Loretta Altheuser; and a brother-in-law, Donald Starke.

He was united in marriage on April 15, 1941, to Minnie Olevia Sherwood who preceded him in death on June 17, 1996. On May 27, 2000, in Linn, Missouri, he married Mary Jo Helmig Ridenhour who survives.

Oreal began working by milking cows, mining in Colorado, farming, logging, and eventually started and operated Skidmore Lumber Company. He retired in 1994 when he sold the business to his sons.

He was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Judge, Missouri. He enjoyed spending time with his family, having a strong work ethic, and most of all, his devotion to his Church and God.

Survivors include his wife, Mary Jo Skidmore, Freeburg; three sons, Odis (Penny) Skidmore, Moberly; Howard (Debbie) Skidmore, Freeburg; Douglas (Brenda) Skidmore, Freeburg; three daughters, Mary (Lloyd) Graham, Rolla; Jackie Bullock, Borger, TX; Betty (Don) Bodine, Moberly; one brother, Johnny (Mary) Skidmore, Cortez, CO; two sisters, Margie Spruell, Pampa, TX; Dora (Leroy) Winters, Farmington, NM; 30 grandchildren; 55 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.

Obituary Preview: Mary Louise (Schneider) Weber, age 87, passed away peacefully with her husband and children by her side on December 31, 2020, at her home in Westphalia, Missouri.

Mary was born in Westphalia on June 7, 1933, the daughter of Alphonse and Clara (Luebbert) Schneider. She married Stephen John “Tip” Weber on August 29, 1953, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Westphalia. They enjoyed 67 years of marriage!

Mary was a lifelong resident of Westphalia and enjoyed small town life. She took great pride in raising her five children, while helping her husband build their business, Weber Equipment Company. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph’s Parish and a founding member of the Westphalia Friendship Club.

Mary enjoyed bowling in her younger years, and traveled many places with Tip including the Bahamas, Costa Rica, and Monte Carlo. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, especially if they played cards. She was a fierce, competitive card player enjoying poker, pitch, and progressive rummy, among others. The love of card playing was passed on to her children and grandchildren. Mary was a fabulous cook, preparing three meals a day for most of her life.

Survivors include her loving husband of 67 years, Stephen (Tip) of Westphalia, Mo.; her children, Kathleen (Kathy) Poff of Jefferson City, Mo., Karen Bax (Bill) of Rich Fountain, Mo., Kenneth Weber (Brenda) of Westphalia, Mo., Keith Weber (Sheila) of Koeltztown, Mo., and Kristy Meyers (John) of Olathe, Ks.; her grandchildren, Jeremy Kirsch, Justin Kirsch, Casey Bax, Andria (Weber) Haslag, Wade Poff, Brady Weber, Ethan Meyers, Olivia Meyers, Caleb Weber, Alysha Weber, Jared Weber; ten great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Gatz, Independence; one sister-in-law, Anna Mae Holterman, Westphalia; and one brother-in-law, Wilbert Wankum, Holts Summit.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Elmer Holterman, Joe Holterman and his wife Zita; one sister, Clara Boessen Fischer and her husbands Raymond Boessen and Norman Fischer; and one sister-in-law, Roselyn Wankum.

Private family burial was held in St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Cemetery in Folk, on Monday, August 17, 2020, with the Rev. Anthony J. Viviano officiating.

Obituary Preview: Felix Joseph Juergensmeyer, 90, of Koeltztown, passed away peacefully on January 1, 2020 at Westphalia Hills retirement community.

He was born in Koeltztown, Mo on Jan. 30, 1929, the son of Louise (Schaefer) and Conrad Juergensmeyer. He was united in marriage on May 8, 1954 to Genevieve Marie Reinkemeyer, who survives at the home.

Felix was a farmer his entire life, primarily of dairy and beef cattle. He loved the land and all of God’s creation.

From 1952-1954, Felix served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was proud of his service and continued to represent his country through the Argyle chapter of the Veterans of Foreign Wars where he served as commander for 10 years. He was also a founding member of Osage County Special Services and served on the board for 23 years. He was a member of the Argyle Knights of Columbus.

Over the years Felix enjoyed his family and sharing his farm life through planting and harvesting crops, cutting silage, baling hay, cutting wood, hunting, fishing, gigging, cooking molasses and riding horses. He had a special place in his heart for Genevieve’s cooking, cold beer, fried fish, dancing, playing cards, Holsteins, Johnny Cash, John Deere tractors and Chevy pickups. In his later years, he enjoyed singing in the St. Boniface Church Choir. He and Genevieve sent all 12 of their children to Catholic elementary school at Holy Family in Freeburg.

He was preceded in death by one sister and brother-in-law, Florence and Robert Kellenberger, an infant brother and his parents.

He is survived by his wife, one sister, Sister Mary Edith, SSND, and one brother and sister-in-law, Norbert and Dorothy Juergensmeyer.

He is also survived by his children: Richard Juergensmeyer (Diane), St. Elizabeth; Susan Wieberg (Ralph), Koeltztown; Janet Kliethermes (Kenny), Koeltztown; Joyce Neuner (Patrick), Rich Fountain; Mary Elizabeth Rackers (Don), Taos; Laura Luebbert (Dan), Holts Summit; John Juergensmeyer (Janel), Koeltztown; Sandra Hentges (Chris), Wardsville; Pam Barnes (Jon), Perry; Scott Juergensmeyer (Amy), Taos; Kim Findlay (Dave), Columbia; and Aaron Juergensmeyer, Linn. He is also survived by 31 grandchildren, Brandon Juergensmeyer, Jessica Stultz, Abby Carwile, Jenny Griffin, Michael Harding, Kaitlin Wieberg, Alex Wieberg, Adam Kliethermes, Jordan Kliethermes, Emma Kliethermes, Amanda Renshaw, Anna Neuner, Evan Neuner, Lacy Green, Logan Rackers, Bret Russell, Courtney Hardin, Ian Luebbert, Braden, Greyson and Kaylee Juergensmeyer, Lanie, Jack and Sam Hentges, Thomas and Samantha Barnes, Ali, Molly and Libby Juergensmeyer, and Darcy and Tess Findlay; 25 great grandchildren and 1 step great grandchild.

Services will be held at St. Boniface Catholic Church in Koeltztown with the Rev. Matthew Flatley officiating. Visitation will be at the church on Monday from 4-7 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:15 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Tuesday with burial in the parish cemetery with full military honors.

Obituary Preview: Jerome Frank Falter, 89, of Freeburg, passed away Friday, December 27, 2019, at his home.

He was born June 23, 1930, in Freeburg, Missouri, the son of the late Joseph Fred and Anna Josephine (Bax) Falter.

Jerome served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

He was united in marriage on April 28, 1956, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg to Ann Catherine Graessle who preceded him in death on October 17, 2009. Jerome and Ann had six children who gave them many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jerome retired after a long career at General Motors in St. Louis, painting cars with a specialty of Corvettes. He and Ann then moved back home to Freeburg to enjoy family and friends. Jerome was a life-long St. Louis Cardinals fan - from staying up late listening to West Coast games on the radio to attending games at Busch Stadium. He also enjoyed the country life - hunting and working the family farm.

He was an active member and supporter of Holy Family Catholic Parish and School as well as a life-long member of the Knights of Columbus.

Survivors include six children, Janice (Jim) King, Warrenton; Bob Falter, Windfield; Carla (Joe) Fiorella, Olathe, KS; Gary (Susan) Falter, Wentzville; Kevin (Kelly) Falter, Freeburg; Kenny (Laura) Falter, Freeburg; fourteen grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three siblings, Lawrence (Lillian) Falter, Koeltztown; Leander (Teresa) Falter, Westphalia; Norbert (Anne) Falter, Freeburg; and one sister-in-law, Darlene Falter, Freebrug.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ann Falter; two grandsons, Wesley Falter and Waylon Falter; son-in-law, Jim King; two sisters, Theresa (Andrew) Kloeppel, Martha (Vloice) Hobbs; and two brothers, Emil and Henry Falter.

Visitation will be 4-7 pm, Thursday, January 2, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg with a prayer service at 3:30 pm.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 am, Friday, January 3, 2020, at Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg with the Rev. I.C. Medina officiating.

Burial with military honors will be in Holy Family Catholic Cemetery.

Obituary Preview: Juliana Marie (Castrop) Luetkemeyer of Jefferson City, formerly of Freeburg, died on Dec. 6, 2019, two days before her 95th birthday.

She was born on Dec. 8, 1924, in Freeburg, a daughter of George and Celestine (Meyer) Castrop.

After graduating from Holy Family School and Freeburg High School, she worked for Alphonse Schwartze at the Maries Valley Hatchery in Westphalia and then briefly for the State of Missouri.

On June 10, 1950, in Holy Family Church in Freeburg, she was married to Francis de Sales Henry Luetkemeyer, who preceded her in death.

She was a lifelong Catholic and member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Freeburg, serving on the parish council, the social committee and the quilting club, singing in the choir and volunteering for many years for funeral luncheons. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in Freeburg, serving a term as secretary.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed walking and quilting. She had an ear for a wide assortment of music, especially Elvis Presley and Andy Williams, and encouraged all of her children to study piano.

Committed to preparing nutritious meals for her family, she spent many hours gardening, canning and cooking. She was well known for baking delicious pies and a massive assortment of Christmas cookies.

She was an early advocate of recycling, making a habit picking up and properly disposing of recyclable materials during her morning walks, years before it caught on in the mainstream.

After raising her children, she worked for 18 years as a cook at Holy Family School, retiring in 1990.

Surviving is a brother, Daniel Castrop of Yukon, Okla.; two sons, Paul Luetkemeyer (Donna) of Freeburg and John Luetkemeyer of Columbia; five daughters, Mary Koeneman (Jay Nies) of Jefferson City, Ruth (Bill) Jaegers of Jefferson City, Joan (Kirby) Keth of Westphalia, Rose (Pete) Dyer of Jefferson City and Jean Rosendale; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; two brothers, Henry (Mary) Castrop and Ferdinand (Rosemary) Castrop; six sisters, Geraldine (John) Poettgen, Mary Jane (Carl) Mertz, Adeline (Norman) Kolar, Rose (Peter) Eyermann, Emily (Wayne) Gollub and infant Esther Castrop; and a son-in-law, Ronald Koeneman.

Visitation will be from 9-11 a.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11, in Holy Family Catholic Church, 110 Oliver St. in Freeburg.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. in the church, with Father James Finder presiding and Father Richard Frank concelebrating, followed by a luncheon and celebration of her life in the Freeburg American Legion Hall.

She donated her body to the University of Missouri for research.
